Pros and Cons Of a Home Based Business

Consider the Pros and Cons of a Home Based Business

When you talk with people who have had experience with home based businesses you will generally get two types of answers. Some will say working from home is the best thing that ever happened to them while others will say that they would preferably go out to work every day.

Having a home based business is really up to each individual's own preference. There are some persons that feel better at a traditional 9 to 5 job while others work better with the freedom of a home based business.

If your kids are still young you may like to work from home since you can then spend a lot of time around your kids and have a part in their upbringing no just their picture on your office desk. Other people may prefer to go to work at a traditional job to have some free time away from the kids and family. These persons may be overwhelmed if they are at home all day with "Rambo" kids running around the house, which can also cause distractions while trying to work at home.

Another advantage of working from home is the fact that you don't have to report to a boss, you can be your own captain. This allows you to set up a schedule that works for you and your family. You don't have to commute long hours every morning to get to work which not only saves time, but also money. You don't have to deal with the weather and you have more free time to spend doing the activities you want to do. You will have more hours in the day and aren't spending your time rushing to get things done before the end of the day.

However, there are some challenges you should consider with home based businesses before deciding if it is something you want to jump in. If you find you are easily distracted while working then a home based business may not be right for you since there are many distractions such as kids and household events. It is best to either have a home based job that only requires work at night or one that doesn't call for your complete attention.

If you aren't easily motivated then a home based business can also be hard to do. With no deadlines and boss to report to it can be very easy to procrastinate and put off working until it is too late. You can't expect to make a profit from your home based business by slacking off, so you need to make sure you have the right mindset to center on your work and finish it.

If you are going to have a home business it is best to make sure you have an office set aside where you can work in quiet and that family understands not to disturb you while working. Although if you prefer human interactions while you work then it can be difficult to get used to attend the home operated business at first since you will often be working on your own with no one else around the whole day.

In a nutshell this kind of business can be one of the most rewarding for you depending on how big is your desire for freedom from your 9 to 5 job...because that big "WHY" will be your answer to the uncertainties of your new endeavor
